TLDR: Apple’s roadmap reveals a foldable iPhone with a 6″ cover screen and 8″ internal display in 2026, AR glasses in 2027-2028, and a 20″ foldable iPad in 2028, along with other exciting device upgrades through 2027.
Leaker @Revegnus1 shared an Apple roadmap extending beyond 2027. The roadmap, seemingly from the Korean site Samsung POP, paints an exciting future for Apple devices.
2024: Vision Pro and OLED iPads
The roadmap accurately predicted the February launch of the Vision Pro spatial computer and last week’s announcement of the first OLED-paneled iPads, the 11-inch and 13-inch iPad Pro (2024).
It also suggests that the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus will bump up to 8GB of RAM, matching the iPhone 15 Pro models. We reported on this rumour back in January.
The roadmap confirms our November mention of Ming-Chi Kuo’s prediction that both the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max will feature a Tetraprism (periscope) zoom camera with 5x optical zoom.
Bigger Screens and Tandem OLED
The 2024 section lists larger screen sizes for the iPhone 16 Pro models:
- 6.3 inches (up from 6.1) for the Pro
- 6.9 inches (up from 6.7) for the Pro Max
It also mentions the tandem OLED display used in the new iPad Pro (2024) models, which enhances brightness and durability.
2025: iPhone SE 4 and 48MP Cameras
Next year’s highlights, per the roadmap, include:
- iPhone SE 4 with a 6.1-inch display and 48MP camera
- Triple 48MP cameras and a 48MP FaceTime camera with OIS on iPhone 17 Pro models
- Introduction of a Pol-less display for a thinner iPhone and brighter screen
2026: Foldable iPhone and Under-Display Face ID
2026 could bring a foldable iPhone with a 6-inch cover screen and 8-inch internal display, using LLW DRAM for low latency and power.
iPhone 17 Pro models may feature under-display Face ID.
The roadmap also suggests:
- 10.9-inch OLED iPad Air
- 8.4-inch OLED iPad mini
- 14-inch and 16-inch OLED MacBooks
2027-2028: AR Glasses and Foldable iPad
Apple’s eagerly-awaited AR glasses could arrive in 2027 or 2028.
A 20-inch foldable iPad is slated for 2028.
Only time will tell how closely Apple sticks to this ambitious roadmap. But one thing’s for sure: the future looks bright (and foldable) for Apple fans.
