Apple Settles $35M Lawsuit for iPhone 7 and 7 Plus Audio Issues

Apple has agreed to pay $35 million to settle a class action lawsuit alleging that some iPhone 7 and 7 Plus models had defective Audio IC chips, causing audio playback problems for users. The company, however, has not admitted to any wrongdoing and settled to resolve the lawsuit.
Who Can Claim the Settlement?
You may be eligible to claim a portion of the settlement if you:
- Owned an iPhone 7 or 7 Plus between Sept. 16, 2016, and Jan. 3, 2023
- Reported audio issues to Apple
You don’t need to have paid out of pocket for repairs to be part of the settlement class.
Potential Payout Amounts
The amount you can receive depends on your situation:
- If you paid Apple for repairs related to audio issues: $50 to $349
- If you did not pay Apple for repairs: up to $125
Proof of payment is not required, but your claim will be verified against Apple’s repair records.

When Will Payments Be Issued?
A final approval hearing is scheduled for July 18, 2024. Eligible payments will be sent out after that date, but the process could be delayed by appeals.
