TLDR: Apple’s ‘Tap to Pay on iPhone’ is now available in Canada, allowing contactless payments without extra hardware.
Apple has said that “Tap to Pay on iPhone” is now ready in Canada through chosen payment platforms.
This means businesses can take contactless payments on an iPhone, with no extra point-of-sale hardware like a Square Terminal needed.
Easy peasy.
Customers can pay by simply tapping their iPhone, Apple Watch, contactless credit or debit card, or other contactless payment options on the merchant’s iPhone. Payment is safely finished using the same NFC technology behind Apple Pay.
